Family Assessment
TOPICS

GKI recommends the Parent Survey as a systematic process allowing communities to reach out to all parents prenatally or at birth offering support from the community that best fits each individual family situation. The term "family assessment", commonly used earlier, may sound like a test for families and does not fit well with our strength based, family centered philosophy. In early 2000, GKI developed and offered to home visitation programs the Parent Survey process, including a new strength based translation of the validated Family Stress Checklist formerly used by most Healthy Families America programs and also updated tools to support that process.
