Around the world in developing countries, there are millions of very young abandoned and orphaned children being cared for in orphanages. They desperately need to be loved, stimulated and valued. You may know a child who spent his/her early months or years in one of these resource-poor facilities and was lucky enough to be adopted by a loving family. You might also know of a family who has struggled with such an adoption as a result of the quality of the care their child received during his/her early months of life.

More often than not, during their time in orphanages, infants and young children receive only minimal custodial care. They survive day-to-day without experiencing attachment relationships, without receiving stimulation adequate for healthy brain development, without knowing applause for their accomplishments, without learning compassion or respect for themselves and others...without the foundations for healthy adult functioning.  

Millions of children now spend their entire childhoods in orphanages. They are destined to survive, but not to become global citizens who will be peace-loving and who will make positive contributions to our world community.

Why should you care?
If you have an interest in preparing children for successful adoptions, or in filling our global community with more compassionate citizens, you do care. And you can make a difference by insuring that abandoned and orphaned children are raised by loving, nurturing caregivers who support their development and learning while teaching them respect for themselves and others.

What could you possibly do that would make a difference?
By adopting an orphanage you can profoundly change the lives of many orphaned children. By participating in our Growing Great Kids Adopt An Orphanage program, you will make it possible for the social workers, nurses and caregivers of an identified orphanage for infants and young children to participate in a nine-month, intensive training program that will forever change their institutions and caregiving practices. Because in-orphanage staff are trained as trainers for their institutions during this process, you will be giving a gift that will continue giving for years to come.

What will happen when you adopt an orphanage?
Both the caregivers and the infants and young children in their care will become the beneficiaries of your sponsorship. The children will:

• Receive consistently nurturing, responsive and empathic care
• Experience early learning opportunities that will lay the foundation for healthy brain development and success in school
• Participate in daily activities designed to support their cognitive, physical, language, social and emotional development
• Receive a journal that documents their early development, preferences, activities and relationships
• Have the foundations for becoming caring, respectful and peace-loving adults

Our Growing Great Kids training program is 100% dependent on the generosity of private individuals and groups. Your gift will ensure that infants are cradled in nurturing arms, that toddlers are provided with stimulation and interactions that will lay the foundation for healthy brain development, and that older children will gain the self confidence and esteem needed to grow into productive, compassionate citizens of our global community.

You can choose what country you would like to support. Currently, we have an In-Country Master Trainer in the Philippines which enables us to provide training there at only $7,500 per orphanage. Care homes for children in many other countries are eagerly awaiting sponsorship. Without in-country trainers, the costs for bringing GGK to them are considerably higher. • Solo-Sponsorship in the Philippine Islands - $7,500.00
• Co-Sponsorship in the Philippine Islands - $3,750.00
• Solo- and Co-Sponsorships in Other Countries (please call)
• Village Sponsorship (your gift in any amount will be pooled with others for sponsorship)

When you solo- or co-sponsor, there will be a plaque in your name (or in the name of the person you are honoring) hung in the children’s play area. You will also receive a photograph of the sponsored orphanage that you have trained and the children they care for.
